Travel Throughout New Zealand Playing Golf With A Group Of Your Friends Or By Yourself

The prime golfing event, the New Zealand open is held at The Hills Golf Course in Arrowtown, Central Otago, in the South Island.

Providing the backdrop to the NZ Open is the Remarkable Ranges which flanks one side of the glaciated lake of Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown.

New Zealand brags in excess of 300 golf clubs, officially registered with Golf New Zealand, despite only having a population of 4.3 million. This does not take into account many of the other courses which are privately owned or attached to some of the splendid hotels situated in perfect locations around New Zealand.

New Zealand’s most active, mainland volcano, Mt Ruapehu, also the largest mountain in the North Island, on it foothills, plays host to one such course.

The Grand Chateau Bay-view Hotel, is playable almost all year round except when from time to time is covered in snow

The Rangatira Golf Club, a little further down the road towards the countries capital city, Wellington, is a superb course although not often frequented by tourists.

The delightful views are just one of the Rangatira Courses charms.

The course is maintained and presented to the highest standard by the courses proud devoted green staff. Split into 3 levels of 6 holes each making its way down the hillside towards the Rangitiki River. Once you have played the 18th hole, there is a 4 person electric cable car to take you and your golf trolley back up to the car park and clubrooms. Here’s the kicker green fees $25.00 NZ.

South of Auckland, the most populated city in New Zealand, with a population of approximately 1.5 million, is Lake Taupo.

The largest lake in New Zealand is Lake Taupo, approximately 629 square kilometers.

A volcanic crater, which last erupted 2,000 years ago. It is believed to have been one of the biggest eruptions in the world, within the last 2,000. The ancient Romans and Chinese have recorded in their annuals of history, a darkening of the skies and a red glow at night in the southern skies.

The Wairakei International Golf Course, rated by the prestigious US Golf Digest magazine to be in the top 100 courses in the world outside of the USA in 2005, is only a few minutes from the township of Taupo.

Despite the lack of views of Lake Taupo the course is blessed with many of New Zealand’s native trees and plants.

New Zealand’s recent history, had it beginings in the Bay of Islands, which is almost at the top of the North Island. Looking across the waters of the Bay of Island and the township of Russell, is the back drop to the exquisite Waitangi Golf Course.

Waitangi is where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed between the indigenous people of the land, the Maori, and the settlers, the British.

Native bush and undulating landscape are the key features of the Front nine holes. However the back nine holes have the outstanding views. Sharing your game of golf with native birds like the Tui, Fantails, Australasian Harrier Hawks or a family of Canadian Quails, is not unique.

Where ever you play in New Zealand you can be assured of friendly welcome, bar & restaurant facilities for refreshments after the game.
