Improve Putting Skills For A Better Game

Putting is one of the hardest strategies in the game of golf. Luckily, it is also the least difficult to practice. In contrast to downswings, you do not have to have hundreds of yards of open space to make one shot. You’ll be able to develop your skills in your backyard, basement, and even office.

If you work to improve putting skills, it will quickly become addicting. If you often play in the course of your free time, it will be a great deal easier to make a shot in a game that counts. The more you have practiced, the more certain you are going to be for every swing. Detailed below are several different drills you can use to improve putting.

Wall Drill

This is actually by far the most favored practice approach. Stand up straight facing a wall, keeping the feet parallel. Put the putter a couple of centimeters away from the wall, so your club will only have an inch of motion from one side. Place the ball and then take a regular swing. Look to determine whether the club head moved from the wall when you made your backswing or whether it brushed up against the wall. A correct swing will have the club keeping the same 1-inch wall distance all through the complete swing.

Circle Drill

This move can be done on real grass or a carpet. Pick a target and surround it with 8 golf balls. The first ball will need to be positioned a foot away from the target. Put each one of the remaining balls 6 inches or 1 foot from the previous one. These balls must be in a circular formation around your target. Start shooting using the closest ball and gradually work your way out. Repeat this procedure once more, this time starting with the farthest shot. When done regularly, this will greatly improve putting skills.

Target Practice

This method is similar to playing darts, except that the actual target is on the ground rather than hanging from the wall. Use a piece of paper to cut out 3 circles. The smallest circle needs to be the size of a golf hole, while the second should be three times larger. The last circle should be twice the size of the second circle. Assign every circle a point, with the larger targets less points and the smaller targets the most points. Attempt to get a perfect score.

Conclusion

There are many different methods to practice putting techniques, and all of these are valuable for developing your skills. Just as with any other kind of game, practice helps make perfect with golf. If you commit to hours of training and improving your skills, you’re sure to see impressive results on the playing field.
