A Golfer’s Biggest Secret to Enhance His Golf: Attitude Is Everything

For a golfer, attitude is key. Whether your disposition is good or bad, your golf game will generally follow suit. If your thoughts are full of pleas to the golf gods not to be embarrassed as you walk up to the first tee, you have just decreased your chances of playing a good round. Just as importantly your odds of having a pleasurable and relaxing day on the course are all but gone.

Standing at the 1st tee you might have the advantage of clubs scientifically designed to help you to drive further, the right brand of ball for those extra ‘in-flight ‘ yards, and the type of shoes Tiger Woods wore when he was ranked number 1, but unless you maintain the right approach so that you can control your emotions, you’re doing yourself, and your fellow golfers, a disservice.

The most amazing thing to most amateur and recreational golfers is that controlling themselves mentally and emotionally is a vital part in each pro golfers game. These skills are most generally referred to as mental golf. Mental golf techniques are far less challenging to learn than you might think, and will improve golf of any golfer, at any level of play.

Just as noise can distract you from your shot, so can your attitude and your fears. The golfers behind you can be loud and annoying but that is not something that you can control. Your attitude and your feelings are. Relatively simple mental golf techniques such as visualizing your success or mentally rehearsing a shot in your mind until it becomes the most probable result on the course, have helped the professional golfers such as Tiger Woods improve their golf and stay at the top of their game for years at a time. It’s no conincidence that Tiger’s most recent fall from the top started when he got distracted with off-the-course affairs and his mental golf game suffered.

Occasionally you just know the second the club swings towards the ball that it’s going to be a good shot. This is a feeling all golfers have experienced and it considerably improves your attitude during a round. Having this happen all of the time may not always be likely to occur, but having it occur more frequently is possible using mental golf techniques.

With golf attitude is everything and attitude is something that you can create by controlling your feelings and permitting yourself to play better. For any golfer who would like to improve their game, all you’ve got to do is choose to do so by improving your mental golf. You can play better and get more enjoyment on the course.
